Whole-house family repaints

The first decision in a family repaint is often which room can be spared. We use that practical starting point to plan a complete interior scheme, connecting the colour decisions with school mornings, working days and the rooms everyone still needs.

Map an ordinary weekday

Before proposing an order, identify the breakfast space, the route to the front door, the rooms used for calls and the bedrooms needed each night. A house can be repainted in stages only when those movements have been understood. Tell us about school routines, home working and any access needs so the proposed programme has a useful relationship with daily life.

Agree where each room's contents will go

A room is not available simply because a date has been selected. Decide which furniture can move elsewhere, which pieces will remain protected and who will clear shelves or disconnect equipment. Keep the temporary storage plan with the room sequence. That avoids displacing one room into the next space due for preparation, particularly when several bedrooms form part of the same commission.

Give living spaces and children's rooms different briefs

A family sitting room may call for a quieter palette around existing furniture, while a child's bedroom needs a colour the household is comfortable living with as the room changes. Discuss expected wear, cleaning and the selected product's use guidance. We can include doors, fitted cupboards and skirting in the same schedule, with the boundaries of the work made explicit.

Treat the kitchen as a working part of the house

Where a kitchen opens into a garden room, review the complete view across both spaces. Work out which walls, ceilings and painted joinery are included, then discuss access to food preparation, appliances and the garden during each stage. Any plumbing, electrical or joinery changes should be resolved in the sequence before the final decorative finish is applied.

Plan each return to use

The completion of a room includes checking the agreed surfaces and following the finish manufacturer's drying and use instructions. Decide when furniture and fittings can return and who will inspect the room before the next stage starts. For halls and stairs, discuss shorter work sections and the route between occupied rooms so circulation is considered throughout the repaint.
